Festival at Sandpoint: Wine, Dine, Have a Good Time
Aug. 20, 2013
Just returning from the 31st Annual Festival at Sandpoint. What a fantastic event!
If you’re not familiar, the Festival is one of the most renowned arts-gatherings in the state of Idaho. From the likes of the Spokane Children’s Symphony to acts like Steve Miller Band and Cake, they do a fantastic job of supporting local musicians while drawing in national acts as well. All of the performances were fantastic — and talk about a gorgeous venue! Sandpoint sits in the northern part of the Idaho panhandle, with the venue itself nestled just alongside Lake Pend Orielle. You have music to the front, Schweitzer mountain to the left, and the lake to the right. Talk about idyllic!
So, I’m sure you’re wondering how Amavi Cellars fits into all of this. As the “Grand Finale” to the Festival, they always close with a big wine tasting and winemaker dinner accompanied by music and fireworks. We poured our wines right alongside those of our sister winery, Pepper Bridge Winery, in addition to many other greats from around the Pacific Northwest — and the crowds were raving about the Sémillon and Syrah! We were one of the first wineries to pour through the bottles we brought…guess that just means we’ll need to bring more next time to appease the masses, which isn't a bad problem to have…
Point being – come with us to Idaho next summer for the 32nd annual Festival at Sandpoint. And while you wait, you can keep yourself up-to-date as they announce the bands and features by viewing their website at http://www.festivalatsandpoint.com/educational-corner.html.
While you’re in Sandpoint, take a break from the heat and festivities while basking in the relaxed atmosphere of Mick Duff’s Brewing Company. Killer beer – make sure to start your table off with at least one of their sampler trays. Nine 5oz samples of their delectable, locally-brewed offerings provide enough option to ensure even the most discerning of beer-drinkers satisfaction, all served alongside some of the best bar food we’ve sampled in Idaho. Check out their website at http://www.mickduffs.com/.
Have you been to any great music festivals this summer? Who’d you see, and where? We got to see The Avett Brothers, among others, in Sandpoint!
Cheers until next time -
